Market news!

Good evening friends! How was your weekend?? It was beautiful and warm over here in the west. I had a hectic weekend. We road tripped to Perth to watch my little sister and my sexy handyman take part in the tough mudder comp. It is a military styled race/event with obstacles over a 20kms course. No I did not race, nor did I want to to be honest. This is not my thing. But I loved watching two of my favourite people in the universe tough it out, covered in mud, getting electrocuted and jumping over stuff and carrying things.

I stayed with my beautiful mum and she fed me lovely fresh organic food and let me sleep while she played with my little person. I love my mum.

I am back home now, with so much to do. I am ultra motivated to sew with the Sou'west vintage fest fast approaching! The 9th of November I will be debuting my little caravan as a market stall and I want to make sure I have plenty of stock available.

I have just ordered six new african wax print fabrics for my new style of tea dress. I don't know if they will arrive in time to be made into dresses for the market, but I will have some in my other african print fabrics. I love this new style. Any suggestions for what I should call it??

BTW, I am sure that many of you are aware of the devastation caused by the fires over in NSW over the last weeks. I will be selling a few dresses to raise money to donate to the cause so stay tuned in the coming weeks for details.

I need a bath! And some sleep!! Talk to you later!!!

My beautiful mess...

My house is occasionally neat, and clean and perfect. And on those days I am light on my toes and happy. I seem to achieve heaps and my mind is clutter free. More often though, I go on a creative rampage and my house ends up strewn with fabric scraps and every bench, table and surface is piled high with trims and cuttings and paper and who even knows what else, it is all buried in there somewhere... But even when it is like this I am happy...

The last few weeks my house has been a mess. I have not been able to prepare proper meals nor have a had a whole bed to sleep on due to piles of washing that have not been put away. But I am busy sewing orders and preparing stock for the upcoming Sou'west Vintage fest, so all those other things just have to wait until I am ready to deal with them.

My little kitchen...

Today was one of those days that reminded me of how lucky I am to live here in the southwest. It was a perfect spring day. Clear blue skies, warm sun and a fresh breeze carrying the promise of the long hot days to come. My little shack was flooded with light. My small person was taking advantage of the warmth and running around in the nudie. She was hanging over the window sill, checking out the bug life in our little flower garden, her cute little bum poking out. A perfect photo opportunity, although she doesn't enjoy having her picture taken much at moment. Hence the scowl. My lovely little kitchen was glowing in the sun and looked so pretty despite the mess on the bench and the dishes on the sink. But hey, that's real life.

I have decided to seek out a studio space somewhere around town. I would love some more room, a dedicated space that I don't have to pack away when people come to visit. So I don't have to worry about grubby little fingers on my dresses. I would love to be able to open my studio to visitors without inviting people into the privacy of my home. Maybe on the last Saturday of the month I could open my studio doors for a mini market and a chance to meet and greet with readers and customers, what do you think? The more I think about it the more it makes sense and the more I want to do it. Now I just need to find the perfect space...

Happy Monday beautiful people!

This week in pictures...

This week has been busy!

1. trashing my house with fabric. Nothing new.

2. Enjoying my new bathtub.

3. Choosing colours to paint my caravan.

4. Preparing to celebrate the '5000' likes milestone on the naughtyshorts facebook page
(I will be giving away a dress so head over and follow for a chance to win!)

5. Trying to be healthy again and head out on regular runs on my beach track.

6. Updating my fabric library

7. Always playing dress-ups with my vintage treasures.

8. Working on a new design....

We have picked up our fruit loaf from the Yallingup bakery so we are ready for our Saturday morning ritual of coffee and toast! Hopefully the sun will come out and we can spend some lazy time on the beach.

Happy Friday!

The best birthday present. Ever.

I can't tell you how excited I was last month, when my beautiful handyman rocked up to the sugar shack with an antique clawfoot bath perched on the tray of his cruiser. This little shack of mine has a very basic bathroom, typical of this style of 60's holiday home.  While I do love my humble bathroom, I have been bathing my small person in a pink laundry tub and I only have only showered all year. A first world problem I admit, but I have missed indulging in a deep hot bath. My lovely man saw this and wanted to spoil me for my birthday. He searched high and low for the bath he thought was perfect for me, with the plan to set the bath up in my laundry so that I could spoil myself whenever I wanted.

So yesterday we did just that. we basically plumbed the bath from the laundry sink and attached a hose to the plug to let the bath drain out the door and into the garden. Very simple and temporary, perfect seeing as I am renting this beautiful little shack. Perfect also, because one day I will move into my forever home and my beautiful bath can come with us.

This is absolutely the most beautiful and thoughtful present I have ever received. It came without prompts or suggestion. I didn't even know how much I wanted one until I saw it. It shows its age beautifully, with amazing patina on the outside but with minimal damage to the inside.

Absolutely this is the best present ever and I know I am a lucky lady!!

Morning light

I just wanted to share a few pictures of my room, looking beautiful on this overcast spring morning. My spunky handyman helped me to hang the new bed canopy yesterday and I just love it. The beautiful native flowers are from my friend Rachel (sundaypeach). We are also giving my laundry a bit of a makeover, I cant wait to show you... The sugar shack is looking pretty magical and romantic at the moment.
