from my living room...
During the heat of the day we spend a lot of time in this room, watching movies or cutting out shapes...
My dream home has concrete floors or hardwood floorboards and I think that these would make a much better base for my style of decorating... Tiles will have to do for now.
That is my small person sprawled out watching the jungle book.
The paintings are mainly by my mum. The magpies are painted on a raw linen canvas and they are absolutely my favourite. She gave them to me before we left for Panna, in exchange for a pair of patchwork car seat covers (which I haven't made yet... Soon mum, promise xo)
Speaking of patchwork, I am thinking of covering the couches. In the photo's I have laid out blocks of patchwork that I have been sewing to get an idea of how it will look. What do you think??

ReplyDeletemuch excited by patchwork couch idea. i've dreamed for a long time of making such a thing myself... only this lush pink velvet number is not the one to experiment with! at first i couldn't quite tell if was a patchwork couch in the picture, or just a quilt laid out neatly over the couch. i say yes, go for it, and please post the 'after' pictures!
it looks fabulous, cozy, colourful and pretty!
ReplyDeletelike it a lot!!

Hi Bec
ReplyDeleteI've just discovered you via Dotti Angel and can tell I am going to be a huge fan. Your banner at the top of the blog won me over immediately - I've always wanted to do the paper/fabric stitching and haven't quite got the courage to try it out yet! I'm still a complete newbie to the world of craft blogging and I'm having such an amazing time discovering so many wonderfully talented and inspirational people. Love the piccie of your little person. I get such a rush of joy when my own little people embrace with my creations. Just makes it all mean so much more. Looking forward to catching up again and again.
Cheers Helen

ReplyDeleteOh my god bec, your mum did that??!!!! As soon as i saw that magpie painting, i thought, 'oh god, that's beautiful, probably cost her a packet and I want it!' Very clever Suzanna. She should do prints of that, or at least paint a load more - I'll buy one! And your home....Soooooo beautiful my sweet, so inviting and so well styled. you'll have to hop on a plane and come style my home. oh, and the patchwork sofa-genius xxx

ReplyDeletethe only thing missing is a cute tent for your little one & you, I wish mine were that small to enjoy something like a tent in our living room although I am pretty sure if I made one I would find all four in there ;)
ReplyDeleteOoo! Love the Maggies. Love the patchwork couch idea and all the cushions too! Looks so vibrant, but also very chilled. The tiles are nice and neutral- and probably good in the heat? Actually, there is a section in the new real living magazine about how tiles are making a big comeback!
ReplyDeleteYes! I saw that - and I loved those morrocan style cement tiles. BUT my heart still wants big wide old floorboards... xoxox
DeleteA definite thumbs up from me to patchworking a cover for your couch :)

your living room looks like such a happy place - so bright and colourful! love it! and heck yes to covering the couches :) mine have crochet granny blankets covering them at the moment (mainly so people don't see how dirty it is. haha)!
ReplyDeleteand i am totally with you on the wooden floors... but hubby used to be a tiler so i think that is one wish that might now come true. boo!
Have a great weekend - Kel x
would LOVE to know where you got the gorgoeus black cockatoo pillow. And thank you for a beautiful blog as always. Ros
ReplyDeleteThanks Ros :) the cushion is from Bonnie and Neil, this size isn't available online but you could look up stockists near you ... I love it, it was a bit of a splurge but worth every cent!
DeleteThank you for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it. We live in a suburb near Fremantle that has one of the few remaining suburban Carnaby Cockatoo flocks. Researchers say they may be extinct in the next few years. It breaks my heart to think of the skies without these magnificent prehistoric birds. I will indeed look up Bonnie and Neil,,,, maybe put the cover on my Birthday wish list? Meanwhile I will keep reading your adorable blog. Cheers Ros
