show and tell

a new kitschy horse picture

Awesome leather granny boots - only $2 - fit me perfectly - and have a lovely moss green felt-like lining.

One of the good things about my little business doing well, is that my love has become far more supportive of my passion for op-shopping. Whereas before I would be afraid to leave him alone at the house for a weekend - in case he torched all of my precious junk in some sort of bonfire - lately he has been going as far as going through the local paper and circling the best looking garage sales...
Hurrah!! We might work out yet...

I am constantly CONSTANTLY on the hunt. If there is an op shop near by, my skin prickles and my heart races... I bring home car loads of treasure every week! I have decided that I will try to share these with you from now on...

In other news - Yesterday I finally finished reading Breakfast at Tiffany's - It's the first book I have read since I finished reading the Twilight saga. I am now on the hunt for a new book - keeping in mind that my taste in books seem to be fairly low-brow and trashy - I would love to hear some recommendations!!

Lots of dresses to ship tomorrow!! It looks like a productive start to the week!!

  1. What gorgeous finds! And that suitcase stack...sigh!! Love when the other half gets on board with hunting out a treasure. Wishing you a week of bliss :) x

  2. My sister would adore that painting...very kitsch indeed. I'm fortunate that the better half actually enjoys op-shop scouting! As for a book, have you read the Southern Vampire Mysteries/ Sookie Stackhouse Novels? They are the books that True Blood is based on...trash at its best.

  3. What a laugh, I love those horses :)
My husband is also becoming more supportive of my passion now that it's started to pay off...funny that, huh?

  4. Im hoping my partner will jump on the "support thee op-shopping wife" bandwagon sometime real for trashy novels........try Carl Hiaasen's Skinny Dip. Its a hoot!

    Love your "finds"!

  5. Ditto all that stuff you said about your passion for op-shopping Bec.

I love your horseys and the pics peeking out from behind the butterfly girl (and the butterfly girl herself of course)

Can't wait to receive my pretty dress and please don't worry about it taking a while...I'm sure it will be worth the wait x

  6. That horsey pic is lovely but my eyes were on the kid prints LOVE!! Those boots are yummy too.I am like you with opshops too you never know what is waiting for you.
I loved the Diana Gabaldon series Crosstitch was the 1st one but its a huge series and may be too much for you to read but thats my reco. xx

  7. i just finished my 1000+-page blockbuster and returned it to the library 2 weeks late! it was 'the witching hour' by anne rice and it definitely ticked all the boxes for trashy reading requirements. only 2 sequels to go now...
my mr. is wonderfully patient and supportive of my op shopping addiction and spends many solitary hours smoking cigarettes in the car park outside the op shops. i think he really appreciates my shopping habits because 1) i never ask him to come shopping with me. he gets to enjoy all the fabulous clothes, blankets etc. i find him without ever having to endure being dragged around a department store trying to guess what is the right answer to the question 'what do you think of...'! and 2) i can shop excessively for under $20 a week. i think he's really impressed by that. sometimes i read aloud to him from your blog when you write about your feelings about op shops and he thinks it's so funny - it sounds EXACTLY like me carrying on... xxx

  8. Awesome finds- especially the horse picture. I think we had something similar in our house when I was a kid. I just finished reading Benjamin Law's book 'The Family Law'. It was pretty funny! But it isn't fiction- could probably say it is somewhat trashy!

  9. Oh Bec I LOVE your horse pic....I've been looking for the one my folks had in the lounge back in the 70's to no avail....It's the one with the white horse standing out in front....**sigh**....!!

Your 'granny boots' ROCK & I can just see them with one of your tea dresses & a cardi.... :o) !!

....hahahahaha....Mr SVJ doesn't give a HOOT about my op-shopping....Just so long as it doesn't go ANYWHERE near his 'man cave' (garage) & show & tell doesn't last too long....I start to lose him after the fourth item so I have to be QUICK....!!!!!

    Have a WONDERFUL week Lovey....!

    Cheers for now,
    Tamarah xx

  10. Totally getting your op shopping joy. I am completely addicted too and am not sure Legoman is a convert yet. Love your stack of suitcases by the way. And those BOOTS! how Anne of Green Gables are they? Love them. melx

  12. love the boots! my other half doesnt mind me op-shopping, just as long as i drop it off at the pub lol. have you read "the secret lioves of dresses" by erin mckean. i just finished it last night and it reminded me of you. bec xo
