Right now, I have a whole lot to be happy about. A few milestones, a few personal achievements. We are in a happy place right now. This little space that is my blog now has nearly 500 readers!! The NS facebook page has reached more than 2000 likers! These numbers blow my mind. In the real world I have just moved into the little pink beach house of my dreams, I have the best small person a mother could ever hope for and Spring is only 2 days away.... OH, and tomorrow is my birthday. Yay! I love birthdays!!

To celebrate I want to give away a custom Annie dress to a reader of my blog! The winner will have an Annie dress made in their size, from a fabric of their choice and sent any where in the world.

To be eligible you must be a follower of my blog and a liker of my naughty facebook page!
I will leave the give away open over the weekend and draw a winner on Monday.
This is open to readers WORLDWIDE.
Extra entries can be achieved by blogging and by sharing on facebook. Leave an extra comment for either...

Yay! Goodluck! I haven't decide how I will choose the winner yet. It might be random, or I might decide based on what you write! Hahaha.

Have a great weekend!!

family crafting session #1

On Sunday night my mum and sister came to visit us here at the sugar shack. We enjoyed lazy breakfast on Monday morning then I led them on a walk to our beach. The tide was in so there were no starfish to be found that day. The sunshine was sporadic only hinting at the Spring weather that will soon be upon us. The countdown is on.

Feeling inspired by the beach house we decided that a crafternoon was in order, so as a family we sat around the table stringing found sea shells onto old hanging baskets, to create a sort of hanging installation outside my front door. It was so lovely to get creative with the people I love the most. I had so much fun. It made me realise that this is something I want to do more often. I have titled this post 'family crafting session #1' as I hope there will be many more to write about in the future.

Right now it is raining and the sky is heavy with clouds. I am completely exhausted after a full day of sewing, and I fear that the flu I have been avoiding all winter may have caught up with me. I have just triple dosed myself with the horseradish, garlic and C vitamins. If I wake up feeling healthy tomorrow I will be over the moon. Thank-goodness for leftovers.

the best nest...

There is so much making me happy today I don't know where to start. Perhaps I will start with this morning. We had a plan. We hit the road early. We stopped for coffee. We took the scenic route. We made our way round to every lions shed garage sale in the area. Margaret river, Cowaramup, Busselton... We found a few treasures. The mirrors, the wire teapot, some crab baskets and a few new fabrics. We ate yummy bacon and egg sandwiches.

This afternoon we came back to the sugar shack and moseyed across the road to the beach. The sun was shining and the beach was deserted so I followed Zavian's lead and stripped off my gear and enjoyed soaking up the vitamin D. I laid on my tummy as Zavian shovelled sand on my back. Occasionally stopping to rub the sand into my skin. I closed my eyes and pretended I was at the day spa.

After we washed all of the sand from our hair and bodies we laid down for an afternoon nap on the daybed, where my person is still sleeping now. In this moment I know I have so much to be grateful for. Sometimes I feel like the luckiest lady in the world...

The sugar shack is taking shape. I love the way it feels here and I am so happy with what we have managed to achieve with practically no furniture. Of course I have plans, but I am content to let things come together over time. For now I just want to throw open the windows and fill this cottage with the scent of vanilla, coconut and sunscreen.

KAZAM designs giveaway...

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce you to a friend of mine. We were high school chums and we used to get up to all sorts of mischief together. One of the more wholesome activities we used to indulge in was jewellery making. While I still dabble here and there with stringing beads and so forth, Karen has gone on to create KAZAM designs. She devotes her days to creating one-of-a-kind adornments, fashioned from natural elements such as wood and stone, and recycled bits and bobs from vintage finds.

While we both grew up in Australia, Kaz is currently chasing cows around in paddocks in the Scottish highlands with her brand new husband! She is new to the blog world so she is offering a give-away as a way of introducing herself and her wares. You can check it out here.

Kaz also designs/makes stencilled trucker caps and canvas work. Her whole aesthetic is a mishmash of street/beach/hippy/boho/skatr style. Eclectic! Yes, she always was. That was why we were such good friends. Kaz has never been afraid to walk to the beat of her own drum.

this week on instagram...

This week has been about unpacking and shuffling things around. Yesterday afternoon, at about 3pm, I found an hour to lay down on my daybed near the window and soak up the late sun. After all of the rushing around moving over the last few weeks I think I had forgotten how to relax. It was such a wonderful indulgence. Loving the sugar shack so far. How has your week been?

the wedding...

So here they are! The magnificent photo's from my very first professional shoot. I met with my wonderful photographer this morning for coffee and a viewing. While I sat there with my hands wrapped around my mug I couldn't contain my joy. I am so thrilled with results and I couldn't recommend Marion from Life Photography highly enough. I wanted to jump across the table and kiss her cute little pixie face. Thanks miss Maz, you are a legend.

Of course miss Maz wasn't the only special lady involved in helping me pull this all together. Dianne from Cape of Love was absolutely integral to the days success. She provided props and styling on the day but also helped me find my photographer, make up artists and florist. If you are arranging any sort of event in the South-west Cape of Love should be your first port of call. She knows EVERYONE. She knows every venue. She pretty much knows everything. Plus she has a shed full of vintage props and an eye for all things pretty. She was such a joy to have on the shoot. Her beaming face warmed everyone and kept us in high spirits despite the chilly winter day.

Tracy from Bespoke Wedding flowers contributed all of our floral arrangements. I asked for something organic, mismatched and vibrant and boy did she deliver! I know she spent the day before hand picking primrose and succulence and berries and foliage from local bushland and gardens. So much love and care went into the preparation of these bouquets and all of the ladies felt so special carrying them. Even our groom had a little succulence pin on his braces.

Danielle and her team from the Dunsborough Lauren Wood Studio provided make-up on the day. The girls were treated to the full make-over and each ladies make-up was tailored to suit the dress she was modelling. Danielle specialises in fifties and vintage style make-up. The girls looked absolutely stunning.

Most of all I want to thank my models. This spunky lot are all close friends of mine. They all devoted their weekend to my project as a special favour to me. They are not professional models, but I don't think that you would guess that from the pictures. They made the day so much fun for me. My gorgeous groom, Adam, I seriously think that every one of the girls on set was in love with you by the end of the day. You had such a presence and had all the ladies relaxed and feeling wonderful. Thank-you for all your effort and advise. My sensational Bride, Shay, I don't think a more beautiful woman has ever existed. My Bridesmaids, Ash, Zoe and Kel, You all looked incredible and I had the best weekend with you. Thanks so much for your time.

So that's the end of my gushing. I hope you enjoy the photo's. Please feel free to link back to this blog but please don't use any of these photo's on your own websites without permission from me first.
