camera adventures - lunch with nan and pop

While we were in Perth I took a drive with my little sis to visit my dad's parents. Of course I took my new camera along. My poor Nan was getting very frustrated with me taking pictures of her while she was trying to talk. She makes her bed everyday with a display of her precious teddy bears. I think one of my favourite photo's here is the one of her delicate little hand smoothing her teddy's dress. And I particularly love the shot of the bread...

Any tips? I am going to invite some constructive critisism.

getting on with things...

I don't love hanging up washing, but when it's vintage floral and new fabric scores it doesn't seem to be such a pain. Fresh air, sunshine and a bit of solitude is just what the doctor ordered, methinks...

Today I am pottering around in the studio, grading the new pattern for my latest orders, and playing around with a few collars... Easy does it.

While I was away I collected my new DSLR. It is love. Are you thinking about getting one? Right now I am wondering how I ever lived without mine.

I hope you are having a most wonderful week so far.

Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes about my news...

changes...

Things in my life are changing. Levi and I have made the decision to split. It was not an easy choice to make, however I believe that we both feel positive about the decision and we are looking forward to the next stage of our lives... I am feeling so relieved that we are both on the same page with our feelings, and I genuinely feel that we will remain close and we will continue to share the life of our precious baby girl. It is still a very tricky and emotional time, so I am going to ask for a little patience and understanding when it comes to sporadic blog posts and naughty shorts updates.

Thanks so much for all of your support. It truly means the world to me.

So I am thinking about getting braces...

I think I want to correct my wonky smile!! I think that the invisalign system is what I want to go for, but it is SO incredibly expensive. I had better start saving the pennies. Have you had invisalign, or do you know someone who has?? I would love to hear what you think.

recycled timber wall art D.I.Y

I have been lugging this piece of wood around for years. Its things like this that make people suspect I am a bit mad, but I always new I would make something with it eventually. Its perfect patina and weathered charm SPOKE to me. It did.

For this project all you need is a packet of alphabet stickers (I found mine at typo) AND an old piece of timber. Keep an eye out on the side of the road or take a visit to your local tip. There are ALWAYS good things at the tip... Go on, you know you want to...

FYI - The sentiment is not my own, I think I remember seeing it in a magazine somewhere?? But I can not remember for the life of me, so if you think I need to be giving credit for that somewhere please let me know and I will be happy to do so...

Easy! five minutes including sticking on the wall with some 3M wall adhesive tabs...

If you make one I would love for you to show me!

we are home...

Good evening beautiful friends. I hope this Saturday night finds you well and happy.

We have returned from our trip to Perth. It was so nice to see my family, but it was way too busy! Trying to fit in everything and everyone I had hoped for was a little bit exhausting and we are in need of recovery. It has also proven to be a catalyst to bring on a few life changes and hard decisions. This is a very personal and emotional time so I have decided to delay re-opening the shop for another week.

I have a little D.I.Y prepared for tomorrow morning that I can't wait to share with you, but until then - I think I need some sleep!

I must have over indulged in the dark chocolate last night, because I hardly slept on account of a buzzing brain. I was up  at 3.37 am, an hour and a half earlier than I needed to be, partaking in a little coffee drinking and blog reading before I hit the road to Karratha to catch our 9am flight.

We are packed. We are packing light, to make room for a few new goodies I plan to bring home with me. Last minute preparations included washing dolly and uploading new tunes to the ipod.

The out-of-office response has been switched on and the car is packed. Woohoo! Of we go!
