I am going to turn this into a pattern available as a pdf download. I might even put together a kit with vintage fabrics included, to save time for those who don't want to spend months hunting for retro fabrics in op-shops...

Did I even remember to tell you guys that I bought a holga...

It arrived in the mail a few weeks ago. I was so excited I went ahead and ripped it all open and chucked in the film and, well... it is SO shonky!  I did not know WHAT the hell I was doing. I started snapping away - but there is no satisfying click when you push the shutter release button, so I did not know if it was working... then you have to wind it on yourself, and I was worried about winding it on too far - then not far enough....

I was taking these pictures of Zavian, as we walked into town, stopping every now and then to get all arty farty with a tree or something, winding on... winding on... THEN, the number "1" appears, so none of the photo's I took will even be on the film.

I think I have it sorted now anyway.

When I bought the camera I imagined  taking photo's walking around lost in a big city, looking really cool and stuff, but instead I am taking snaps of my little one, playing in the dirt in a small country town, and not looking very cool at all - pretty haggard actually.

It is so funny how everything changes when you have your very own humanoid to look after...

Don't get me wrong, I love my life and my baby in the dirt and my small town. It's just a million miles away from the romantic images that I conjured up back in the day - and yesterday maybe... Its ok to day dream about these things. I'm sure I am not alone...

Any who, sorry for rabbiting on, ha ha, get it!

busy busy little bee

I have been collecting tea towels and linen tablecloths for a little while now, I have grand plans of making a queen size quilt for myself, cottage industry style.  I saw one in a magazine, but can't find a picture on the net to share with you, yet.

To get me started I have made a few kitsch tea towel cushion covers...

This is a new idea I am going to take a bit further - silhouette's of bunny's and foxes and squirrels? maybe? perhaps  should use native animals instead? I am so happy with how it turned out...

I am so inspired at the moment. I keep finding stuff that I want to take home and do up - I can't sleep because of all the ideas spinning around in my head. I need to make sure I keep writing these ideas down - can't let them get away! This is a good time, right here, right now.

The last couple of days...




I found a cane outdoor setting at the tip and decided to pretty it up a bit...



this is the BEFORE

I used Anna Maria Horners Drawing room fabric, cutting templates from the old covers...

...and made matching buttons

...I ran out of paint half way - but you get the picture

I am going to use this chair at the markets when i finally set up my own stall :)

By the way I sold another quilt - YAY!

 

...which inspired me to make a new one

using some funky vintage fabrics and a yummy linen!

My sewing machine is broken! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGH!! getting it fixed at a Subiaco Elna dealer who hooked me up with a fantastic deal - so I hope that it is running smooth when I finally get it back home. So many projects on my mind.

I don't really like to follow projects start to finish without putting my own stamp on it BUT that being said I have found two projects this week that I simply must conquer!

Anna Maria Horner's punk rock inspired Union Jack-ish quilt for innocent crush - this will probably be my most ambitious quilting project to date...

Brilliant fox quilt from Sew La Tea Do - the follow up to Meet me at Mikes. Now I know that this  book isn't even released for sale yet - but Frankie magazine has published instructions in the latest issue - Yay! Thanks Frankie
I am also going to make a bunny version for my mumma who loves bunnies, and spotlight had a sale on which meant I got loads of calico and gingham for around 2 bucks a metre - Sorted!

I would love to know what you are making - send me a picture - or maybe a link,  if you feel like it - I hope you have had a lovely and productive week...
