On the drive to Perth yesterday I couldn't help but stop off at one my favourite op-shopping spots. It never fails to deliver the good stuff and this occasion was certainly no different. A splendid selection of floral sheets, a gorgeous oriental rice-warmer-thingo, a happy sunflower tapestry AND a lovely mid century stool that will undergo a dottie angel inspired make-over once I get home... You wouldn't believe that I got the lot for less than 10 smackers! I must have looked pitiful as when I asked the the lady at the counter how much I owed her she said something along the lines of "well it is Christmas and you have a child..."
What about the culling?? Hmmm, yes. I am sure that these pretties will have a place in my new home... Fingers crossed.

P.s - I found four (4!!!) vintage typewriters in the one oppy. All priced at $10.00 each. I was so tempted to buy them all, but I recently purchased one online (it will be waiting for me at the panna house) and I thought I would leave them there to share the love. If you are a Southwest lady (or gentleman) on the hunt for a typewriter give me an message with your email and I will send you the details... I am not sure if they worked but they looked in good condition. x

ReplyDeletei know it's the cyrillic alphabet, so it most likely to be russian, but i'm not 100% sure, there are some other small countries and language groups that also use the cyrillic alphabet. i wonder what time period those tins were produced in, and what the borders in that part of the world looked like at that time. i intend to ask my friend stella who is obsessed with all things russian and has educated herself accordingly.
ReplyDeletemy moving date is not til march - far enough away that it doesn't seem real enough to stress about it yet. in my 'former life' i could have moved completely three times during that kind of time frame!

ReplyDeleteI picked myslef up a gorgeous yellow typewriter the other day for $5 and there was a green on there also. Not sure why I left it there but do I really need two anyway? I love your finds, the canisters are gorgeous and I would have bought them also! Sherry :)

ReplyDeleteOh yes please share the location of your favourite haunts. I rarely get to Perth and usually it is for as least time as possible, but if there is the lure of a decent place to rummage, then I might have more tolerance.

My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw those tins - love them! They are indeed Russian text, the cyrillic alphabet. The first one says "vermicelli" and the second one says "peas". Lovely pictures, lovely blog, I'm going to be following along from now on!
