Sunday photo sesh - new pics

My lovely and most generous neighbour came by this morning to try on my teeny-tiny size 6-8 and size 8-10 bee-keeper dresses. We decided that while we were at it an impromptu photo-shoot was a good idea. This beautiful girl is a part owner of the most amazing coffee shop in the south-west. It is called Chocolatte and If you are ever in old Dunsborough town I suggest you put a visit to this lovely cafe on your to-do list. Do not take your kids in there if you don't want them having any sugar. You will be the meanest person in the world.

I graded my bee-keeper pattern a while ago but I was yet to make up samples. So far I think that I have got the sizing right :) Thanks for everyone who has been waiting most patiently for me to get some made.

The bee-keeper is designed for a comfortable fit. This means that if you are a size 12 and you prefer a snug fit you could wear the size 10 or if you want an extra loose fit, size 14 will still be OK.

I am designing this so it suits lots of body shapes. It features an elastic casing on the waist at the back and drawstring at the front. I can also make this with a fuller and longer skirt and it looks gorgeous. Each one is made with it's own quirky details. Mix and match fabrics, lace and even cotton fringing. Hooray!

The pretty little capped sleeve dress with the lace hem will be a part of a big shop update next week and is a size 10... (just in case you were wondering)

Thanks for being my model today, Jessie, you lovely thing!

Happy Sunday everyone. Wherever you may be.

everlastings

I haven't been buying flowers lately. I usually will buy or pick a bunch after my weekly clean, but my house has been so chaotic with manic dress making, that for the last few months I would not even know where to put them.

I have been going through a massive clear out. Weekly op-shop drop offs and a couple of huge garage sales have finally made a dent in my hoard. I am getting to a point where everything has a place, including a pretty bunch of flowers for my dining table.

Happy Sunday!

mental health day

Sometimes you just need to ignore what you are meant to be doing, in favour of what you want to be doing. A mental health day of sorts. I tried so hard to get all of the jobs I needed to do finished today, but my head wasn't with it and what I really wanted to be doing was crocheting a trim onto a new little cape for my girl. After hours of procrastination and unproductive behaviour I finally gave in and sat down with a cuppa and my hook.

Sometimes I have too high expectations of what I can achieve in one day! I bet most of you do the same. I'm starting realise now that to save my own sanity I just have to turn down the pressure and let some things go.

I hope your weekend is full of things you would rather be doing!

Junior Re-style

I was shopping the other morning. I was on a mission to get my small person a hat so that I didn't have to drop her off at kindy without one again. It shoud have been an in-out mission, over in 10 minutes, except the shop was full of gorgeous little garments with quirk and style and exorbitant price tags. I came across a gorgeous little knit cape/poncho and I made it my plan then and there to try to make my own.

Today at the op-shop (Australian version of a thrift store, for all my american readers...) I bought two knit jumpers. One was a ladies skivvy or turtle neck, and one was a mens jumper with a high round neck. I simply cut off the arms and body of the jumpers in a semi-circle. I sewed on a tassel trim to finish off my knit edges neatly. I also took the arm of the ens jumper and made my own turtle neck roll to make that cape more snuggly. I then made and attached the pompoms.

I even had enough knit fabric left over to make little beanies that match each cape. I will get an action shot of my small person in her cape as soon as she lets me dress her in it! currently she is running around the house in her undies as is the norm.

We are gearing up for Autumn/Winter round these parts so ponchos and leggings, capes, jackets and boots are on my mind! I love this time of year!

good things day

A quick stop past the local oppy after kindy drop off today proved to be fruitful! I snaffled a delicious retro floral sheet and an amazing seersucker tablecloth in pink and red. I put them straight in the wash when I got home so they could enjoy an afternoon soaking up some sun on the hills hoist.

Today was full of good things. Thrifted treasure. Yummy coffee. Lovely neighbours with baked treats. Playing dress-ups. Lots of sewing. Lace. Nice weather. Tasty lunch. Pretty dresses. Amazing fabrics! Not to mention I woke up early to go to my first sunrise boxing session and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hooray for cool autumn mornings and warm autum days. Its nice to feel so motivated.

Tomorrow I have my gorgeous friend coming over to paint some stuff and pot some plants. Its bound to be another great day. Bring it on.
