Bris-vegas!

Would you like to see some pictures from our trip to Queensland last week?

Levi and I cruising the streets of Brisbane town

Godzillla?

Yummiest retro shop but I am sorry I CANNOT REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT!

Rainbow goodness

Awesome view from the Brisbane Wheel  - yes, we are very daggy tourists

I did a whole heap of op-shopping and I scored loads of good stuff so I will share that with you later...

More graffiti on walls in Brisbane...

Who does this stuff? I got a great book the other month about graffiti and I will share that later also...
My sewing machine is broken! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGH!! getting it fixed at a Subiaco Elna dealer who hooked me up with a fantastic deal - so I hope that it is running smooth when I finally get it back home. So many projects on my mind.

I don't really like to follow projects start to finish without putting my own stamp on it BUT that being said I have found two projects this week that I simply must conquer!

Anna Maria Horner's punk rock inspired Union Jack-ish quilt for innocent crush - this will probably be my most ambitious quilting project to date...

Brilliant fox quilt from Sew La Tea Do - the follow up to Meet me at Mikes. Now I know that this  book isn't even released for sale yet - but Frankie magazine has published instructions in the latest issue - Yay! Thanks Frankie
I am also going to make a bunny version for my mumma who loves bunnies, and spotlight had a sale on which meant I got loads of calico and gingham for around 2 bucks a metre - Sorted!
I would love to know what you are making - send me a picture - or maybe a link,  if you feel like it - I hope you have had a lovely and productive week...
That's all for the moment xox

Spring - picnic sets and nudie sunbaking in the back yard!

Now I know that I have been banging on about spring a bit - but it is hard not too when the weather is amazing and the birds are singing and there are ducklings running around in the back yard!

ONE THING that I have learned with the change of the season is that it is impossible for one to catch a few cheeky rays in the back yard without ones top on when there is a hungry breast feeding baby in close proximity!!! Boy was she quick to swoop when I got my mammaries out and if I wanted to enjoy any second without her attacking my nipples I had to lay on my tummy.

WE have had a fun week enjoying the beach and the sunshine, catching up with freinds and family, and getting lots of sewing done.
Just one of the stunning beaches where I live in Australia's amazing Southwest
Anyway - I am on the hunt for a picnic set - to enjoy Spring / Summer 2011  here are a few that I found...
Aladdin thermos and lunch box set is fro DJandPvintage

This little ripper is on eBay - already at over 100.00 bucks and out of my price range - but it is splendid.

Vintage Aladdin set with a fabulous tapestry design vinyl cover, available at closetphoto's Etsy shop.

bright and cheerful mid century picnic set from SweetLoveVintage

I had a great sewing day today - I made two dresses. One from a cornflower blue Cotton Elastane blend and the other from a hemp french terry - So very happy with the results, but the camera's battery failed so no photo's till tomorrow maybe.

Also made another matching dress for Zavian (is there something wrong with that? matching dresses? Levi thinks so...)

ALSO studio is looking great, Levi has started fixing my chairs that I found on the side of the road, heaps of stuff around here is getting made over, WHOA heaps to go on about! Shit! I better get some sleep!

Mwah xoxox love you sis and hi to my new readers who i have never met - thanks for joining me - goodnight x

Naughty Needlecraft and Tantalising Tapestries

I want to learn a new skill. For when I am unable to work in my studio because of a certain naughty small person being awake or because sometimes I just want to be able to sit and sew something on my lap in front of the T.V.

This precious birdy is by MaMagasin but is SOLD! WHILE I WAS CREATING THIS LINK! You gotta be quick hey :)

This piece of work is by FoxandBrie  and last I checked it was still available...

This amazing quilt is what inspired me to try hand quilting for myself. It is made by Namoo and I think it is one of the most lovely baby blankets I have ever seen.

This is a needlepoint kit by Emily Peacock . I only just found her work after she produced and amazing tapestry with Rob Ryan - who is my hero...
This is the baby quilt that I made after being inspired by Namoo's baby quilt.

Details of my hand quilting in all of its wonky glory.

I am more than happy with the result - and I want to do heaps more of it! You can see more pics of what I have been working on here

This work of art is sewn by Marysgranddaughter. Everything she does is beautiful and this piece is at the very top of my wishlist.

I have just bought this book. Arrived in the post last week and I am yet to do any of the projects yet. It is called Doodle stitching AND I have just found out that the author Aimee Ray ALSO has an etsy shop called little dear
So now I have plenty of inspiration and a whole lot of enthusiasm, so all that's left for me to do is get my stitch on!

re-upholstering and resurrection

I have a habit of picking up furniture on the side of the road. I LOVE council pick-up!! In fact my ONE wish  and the ONLY thing I insisted on doing for my birthday this year was visiting the local tip to see what I could find. The thrill I get from a successful scavenge is more, I'm absolutely sure, than the thrill I would get if i went skydiving. My heart rate picks up, my mind starts to race, I call all friends/family/mainly-my-cousin/anyone with a ute - HELP! EMERGENCY! DROP EVERYTHING! ... I've found another couch !

ha ha much to Levi's disgust this is an all too regular occurrence. BUT... have you SEEN BOKJA DESIGN before?? I am thinking about running away to tafe to learn re-upholstery so I can be a master furniture rescuer...

...yum

yum...

um... yummy
AWESOME!!!

YUM!

That's all - I am off to take more photo's of the recent things I have found/bought/saved etc;

xoxo Bec

wacky jesus band aids - also on ebay

gorgeous IttyBitty Boo Boo Kit from MaxandEllie's etsy shop
